On The Wings of Reality
Last March I saw a crow
On the new build apartments
That forms part of the London
Urban regeneration.
He was on the roof garden as I went up
To partake of enhanced vistas
With a cup of Blue Mountain.
As we viewed from balcony edges
Our respective perspectives
Overlooking a nation
I saw us as equals
Surveying the world below
Such was my notion
But I’d misunderstood
Equality as by nature defined
When he spread his wings;
Soared.
And left me behind.
In Writing
Don’t use caps and don’t use commas,
Only an ignoramus bum uses a semi-colon
And no one uses a colon
(In fiction),
So probably best
To rest your brain,
And refrain
From overuse.
On that note we are
Soon to vote
On the world’s words and letters
And how appropriate they are
In writing.
Shake it Off
His first kiss
Leaves her breathlesss;
Young shoots of love
Will test this
Devotion;
Her body bless his.
Heart shakes a little.
Time skips away
Promises.
His eye
Instead amasses
Fresh fruit.
Lust for her passes;
Loins shake a little.
Ring-fingered vows
Now smoke-mist.
Fists give
Black eye caresses.
Aim straight and true,
Does not miss.
Brains shake a little.
Child-swollen now
She faces
Violence daily:
The basis.
Her poison
Leaves no traces;
Hands shake a little.
Eyes open
In his stillness.
The cold floor
Last embraces;
A final kiss
She places;
Tears shake a little.
Some People Like Rap
Some people like that
So we go hard core
Like a rat that's trapped
Busting in through the door
Like Shredder.
Kicks, flicks, tail, whips
Bring the cheddar
Some people like rhyme
So iambic's how we chime
And we aim to please
Cause we want that cheese
Scansion drop off the top
Like a feather
Height, weight, wind, gait
Ronaldo header.
Some people want prose
But they don't suppose…
Yes, we got that too
And we got haiku
3:17 Keep it clean
Like a sonnet
Tarantella for your Bella?
We can drop it.
Brave New Worlds
For you
I would break tongue
And silences
Make new roads
And forge new worlds
With you
I would take your hand
Place it on my heart
Promise you all those things
I could deliver
For with your hand
On my heart
Your look in my eye
Your ear on my voice
I can speak no lie.
No lie…
So tell me your three words
And I will tell you mine
Let us break the silence
Unstop time.
Let us be together
Breathe together
Unbreak tongues and silences
And forge
Brave new worlds.
Can't Read 'Em All
How many Wars and Peaces did we have?
In the time it took me to read this trifle?
How many times was I ready to play Russian Roulette, with
Or without a rifle?
Let me tell you.
Absolutely none;
By the time I'd reached
Page twenty-one,
I was done.
